Naukuchiatal literally means “The Lake of Nine Corners”. This Nine-Cornered Lake is situated in the foothills of Kumaon and part of Uttarakhand state (Earlier it was Uttaranchal) in India. The lake is fed by an underground perennial spring and is one of the highlights of this location. One can take leisurely walks around the Naukuchiyatal lake or hire a row boat or a paddle boat to explore the lake.

Naukuchiatal comes under the lake district of Kumaon "Nainital" and a very important part of the Rural Tourism inititiative of Uttarakhand Tourism and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam Ltd.

The lake is also ideal for fishing as it abounds in carp. The surrounding hills are ideal for Mountain treks,Mountain biking and lovely nature walk can be enjoyed here with the trails abounding in the natural beauty of wild orchids and other flora. It is the deepest lake in the lake district of Nainital and lost in acres of oak forest in the lesser Himalayas.
